The Dutch Lottery, Nederlandse Loterij, has appointed former ING head Maartje Geven as its new chief technology and information officer (CTIO).
Geven will arrive on 1 March from the Dutch bank, where she has spent the last 17 years of her career.
Since October 2018, Geven has served as IT and tech market leader, following stints as principal product manager of business strategy payments and research manager.
Alongside her new role, Geven will also serve as a director for Nederlandse Loterij.
Geven will replace Maurice Meijer, who spent 13 years with the lottery in various roles, including as product owner and head of design and development.
Meijer had been in the CTIO post since November 2018 and departed in December. He has since co-founded health tech business Flowbaze.
Prior to his departure, Meijer took to LinkedIn to comment on the launch of Nederlandse Loterij’s launch of self-service kiosks in his final days at the firm.
He added: “[A] great launch on my last days with Nederlandse Loterij. Everybody knows I’m a true believer of online technology and e-commerce, but a lot of customers still love the paper lottery ticket.
“In a little over nine months we built a Loterijzuil, or self-service kiosk, selling paper tickets, but of course leveraging our online technology stack, to bridge this gap.”
Geven’s impending arrival follows Nederlandse Loterij’s promotion of Arno de Jong to chief customer officer.
