The Mint Gaming Hall announced plans for the 152nd running of the Kentucky Derby on May 2, aiming to make the biggest day in horse racing accessible to all of Southern Kentucky and Tennessee. With the upscale Bit + Barrel horse-racing simulcast space and one of the largest sportsbooks east of the Mississippi River, The Mint will offer a one-of-a-kind viewing experience and ample ways to place a bet on one of the most-wagered sporting events in the United States.
“Given our long history in horse racing, the Kentucky Derby is always a milestone event for us at The Mint Kentucky Downs,” said Jeff Miller, director of marketing at The Mint Gaming Hall. “With our deep roots in the sport and our premier sports betting platform, The Mint offers an authentic Derby Day experience for those who want the Churchill Downs atmosphere without the three-hour trip to Louisville.
“Guests joining us for the Derby – or even the day before for The Oaks, which is running in primetime for the first time ever – can expect an electric environment, signature drinks and food, and the best seat in the house for the Greatest Two Minutes in Sports.”
The biggest race in the sport enters 2026 on a streak of three consecutive years of breaking wagering records, totalling US$349m in 2025. For the 2026 celebration, The Mint will offer betting opportunities for every race leading up to the finale, including the Longines Kentucky Oaks on Friday, May 1.
For the 2026 Kentucky Derby, The Mint Kentucky Downs plans include:
• Bit + Barrel – A special space specifically designed to simulcast horse racing all over the country, the Bit + Barrel will officially host its first Kentucky Derby. The space features a full-service bar and kitchen, expansive seating areas, and convenient betting counters right near the action.
• Amplified Viewing Experience – Across The Mint’s extensive property, coverage of the Kentucky Derby will be shown on more than 50 TVs, including the 80-foot-wide LED screen within the Circa Sportsbook.
• On-site Contests – To celebrate guests who appreciate the Kentucky Derby’s storied style, The Mint will host a hat contest with winners receiving free play in the gaming hall. The contest is free to enter and will be voted on by attendees.
• Special Cocktails – A Derby party isn’t complete without the drinks that have contributed to the Kentucky Derby’s fame. On May 2, guests can enjoy The Mint Lily and the Blackberry Peach Mint Julep, a twist on the timeless classic.
