The Swedish Gambling Authority (SGA) has confirmed that Mr Green, the ComeOn Group, and Kindred-owned Spooniker will not receive permission for additional appeals against previously issued fines. Owned by Evoke, Mr. Green is obligated to pay a fine of SEK12 million, while Spooniker must settle SEK30 million. Different brands under the ComeOn Group face penalties ranging from SEK8 million to SEK24 million.
According to the regulator, the Supreme Administrative Court has declined to entertain further appeals since the initial fines were already reduced upon appeal. These penalties concern lapses in anti-money laundering (AML) protocols, compliance, and bonus offers, stemming from findings prior to 2020.
Initially, Mr Green faced a SEK31.5 million fine due to AML and care duty violations, which was lessened after an appeal. Spooniker’s substantial SEK100 million penalty for player bonuses was scaled down to SEK50 million in 2021 and further reduced to SEK30 million this past May.
Meanwhile, ComeOn Group’s Snabbare brand initially received a fine of SEK65 million in 2021, which has decreased to SEK24 million. Hajper’s penalty has been reduced to SEK14 million from SEK50 million, and the ComeOn! brand saw its fine drop from SEK35 million to SEK13 million. Additionally, Casinostugan’s fine was lessened to SEK8 million from a previous SEK25 million.
Although these operators have achieved some success with their appeals over the last three years, further reductions in their penalties seem improbable now.
Additionally, the SGA has prohibited Cosmogames NV from conducting operations within the market for functioning without the required license.
