Svenska Spel has appointed Katarina Borstedt to the role of chief people and culture officer, starting September 2026.

Borstedt arrives from climate control and air treatment solutions company Munters, where she has been its vice-president of people and culture since joining last February.

Prior to the Munters role, she had a two-year stint at Proxify, a network for independent tech contractors, as its chief people and culture officer.

Borstedt also spent four months at Swedish shipping firm Instabox from November 2022 to February as vice-president

of people and performance, following a four-year stay at industrial machinery manufacturing company Northvolt as director of growth between January 2019 and November 2022.

For just over a year-and-a-half, from April 2017 to November 2018, she worked for Finnish sustainable manufacturing firm Ahlstrom as its vice-president of talent and development.

Borstedt also had spells at several companies between January 2008 and April 2015, including Deloitte as a senior consultant for three years from January 2008 until February 2011.

Upon joining Svenska Spel in September, she will be a part of the group management team and report into CEO Anna Johnson.

Her remit will included strengthening and developing Svenska Spel’s organisation, leadership and working methods.

Commenting on the hire of Borstedt, Johnson said: “She has broad experience in leading HR and organisational issues in companies undergoing change and building for growth.

“This expertise will be important for us as we continue to develop Svenska Spel with a focus on sustainable growth, customer satisfaction and corporate culture.”

Borstedt added that she hopes to “contribute with my experience of developing organisations, leadership and working methods in growth and change journeys”.

Joakim Karlsson, who has been acting chief people and culture officer since October 2025, will return to his position of head of talent acquisition and tech when Borstedt takes on the role.

In April, Svenska Spel reported a 2% year-on-year increase in net gaming revenue (NGR) on the back of improvements across all verticals, with NGR of SEK1.9bn.
