MrQ has unveiled a new in-site currency, Qoins, as part of the bootstrapped challenger online casino’s continued rollout of unique features on its platform.
The currency, which is currently live in a pilot stage being tested by a small group of users, allows Qoins to be redeemed for free spins and other prizes.
Customers will also be able to use Qoins to play new free games on the MrQ site.
Qoins will drop into player accounts every day, without the need for them to make a deposit. They then have the opportunity to win more Qoins by playing a selection of free games.
In-house currencies are continuing to grow in popularity in the UK as operators look to gamify the user experience.
Entain has launched Ladbucks and Coral Coins with its Ladbrokes and Coral brands, respectively.
These coin economies also allow users to redeem the in-site currency against free spins and bets, bonuses or coin-to-play tournaments. Coins are acquired via playing free-to-play games as well.
Speaking to EGR last March, then-Entain CFO and deputy CEO Rob Wood said: “Things like the coin economies have been really popular for Ladbucks and Coral Coins.”
Writing on LinkedIn about the feature, MrQ CEO Savvas Fellas insisted the “new homegrown currency will open up a world of opportunities”.

Krista Rickard, product lead at MrQ, told EGR: “Qoins are about levelling up what a casino can be. We’re building out a whole world of ways to earn and spend them, so there’s always something rewarding to do, whether you’re staking real money or not.
“At MrQ we aim to make every play unforgettable, and burn the rulebook when it gets in the way. Everything we build starts with our players, not with what the industry thinks a casino should be.
“Qoins, Q+ and The Arena [leaderboard functionality] are all in pilot right now, with plenty more to come. Win or lose, it should be fun; that’s the whole point of us.”
The Qoins pilot represents the latest new feature MrQ has rolled out on its platform in recent months. Last month, the St Albans-based casino and bingo operator launched a subscription service for users, dubbed ‘Q+’.
The service costs £10 per week and unlocks a series of perks including free spins and cashback on stakes.
MrQ underwent a brand relaunch at the tail end of 2025, which was accompanied by the ‘The Casino You Love To Hate’ TV, digital and out-of-home ad campaign.
The operator’s marketing push has continued, including last month’s announcement of a front-of-shirt sponsorship deal with Championship side Queens Park Rangers for next season.
MrQ, which made the ‘Ones to watch’ list in the 2025 edition of the EGR Power 50, also entered into a multi-year partnership, in June, with boxing events promoter Queensbury Promotions, becoming the company’s principal and official online casino partner.
The product and marketing drive comes as UK operators like MrQ figure out ways to cope with remote gaming duty almost doubling from 21% to 40% as of 1 April.
Meanwhile, the Gambling Commission announced yesterday, 7 July, that it will go ahead with plans to introduce controversial financial risk assessments (FRAs).
Once fully implemented, FRAs will apply to net deposits exceeding £1,000 in a rolling 24-hour period for over 25s, or £3,000 in a rolling 90-day period.
