Former Blue Guru Games head Liam Mulvaney has launched a new slots studio, Bigly, with a USP of capped annual costs for operator partners.
The Malta-based firm is set to unveil its first title, Deep Sea Treasure, in the near future as the studio aims to deliver an “entirely new commercial model” to the industry.
Bigly has claimed that its operator partners will only pay a capped annual cost as opposed to a standard revenue-share agreement that is used in most commercial partnerships.
The studio said that should operators promote Bigly games and push customers towards them, that increased revenue would remain with the operator, instead of a percentage heading back to Bigly.
The supplier has noted its roadmap will allow for 10 “top-quality titles per year”. The business also noted it is in “late-stage” talks with potential operators.
Bigly has also partnered with Reelsoft as its technology partner to drive the business.
The startup will tap into Reelsoft’s development team and in-house aggregator platform as it aims to scale up.
Mulvaney, who will serve as chief commercial officer, previously spent time as chief business development officer for Blue Guru Games between October 2021 and March 2023.
He also counts spells with QuickSpin, NetEnt and Gamingtec on his industry CV.
Speaking on the launch of Bigly, Mulvaney said: “Bigly is not just another slots studio – there are already hundreds of those doing pretty much the same thing.
“This is an industry that talks a lot about innovation, yet still turns to the same commercial model that’s been used for decades.
“At a time of growing costs and shrinking margins, Bigly is exactly what operators need. Our games hit the mark with players, and they also hit the ROI operators are seeking. We are already in late-stage talks with several operators and will be announcing our first partners shortly.”
Thomas Nimstad, Reelsoft CEO, added: “We believe in empowering studios like Bigly with the tools and infrastructure they need to focus on creating exceptional content, and we’re confident that Bigly will shake up the market with their new commercial concept and games.”
