Pennsylvania Achieves Record Revenue from Sports Betting and iGaming in November

November’s revenue in Pennsylvania exceeded the previous year by 26.5% and was 13.3% higher than the $496.6 million recorded in October 2023. This latest figure also surpasses the record set in March, $554.6 million, by 1.4%, as reported by the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB).

Among the notable details from PGCB were the impressive sports betting results. Gross revenue from sports betting hit an all-time high of $77.1 million, a dramatic increase of 498.4% compared to the previous year. In November 2023, the hold was a record-low 1.38%. Previously, December had set the revenue record at $72.5 million, but November 2024 surpassed this by 6.3%. Of the total revenue, $71.7 million was generated through online platforms, while retail sportsbooks contributed $5.4 million.

The total betting handle in Pennsylvania reached a record $935.5 million, narrowly outpacing the previous record of $934.1 million set in November 2023 by 0.2%. Players wagered $886.5 million on sports through online channels and an additional $49.0 million at retail outlets, culminating in a 7.75% hold statewide.

### FanDuel Dominates the Pennsylvania Market

FanDuel, partnered with Valley Forge Casino Resort, continues to dominate the market significantly. In November, their gross revenue stood at $36.8 million from $373.6 million in bets, resulting in a 9.85% hold. DraftKings, in association with Hollywood Casino at the Meadows, holds the second position, securing $21.5 million in gross revenue from $246.2 million in wagers, indicating an 8.73% hold.

BetMGM, along with Hollywood Casino Morgantown, ranked third with earnings of $4.5 million from $65.9 million, translating to a 6.83% hold. Meanwhile, ESPN Bet and Hollywood Casino at Penn National followed with $2.9 million from $43.8 million, yielding a 6.62% hold. BetRivers and Rivers Casino Philadelphia reported $2.8 million from $35.1 million, with a 7.98% hold. Parx Casino and Kambi also exceeded $2.0 million, reporting $2.1 million from $21.1 million, achieving a 9.95% hold.

### Record Igaming Revenue of $200.5 Million

The outstanding sports betting performance was complemented by a record in igaming revenues in Pennsylvania, reaching $200.5 million—a 26.9% increase from the previous year and 4.9% above the record of $191.1 million set in March.

Online slots contributed $148.7 million to the total igaming revenue, marking a 36.0% year-on-year growth. Revenue from internet table games rose by 6.7% to $49.6 million, while online poker saw a slight decline of 0.1% to $2.3 million.

Hollywood Casino at Penn National remains the leader in this sector, bringing in $74.4 million in igaming revenue, including $53.3 million from online slots, $20.6 million from table games, and $517,464 from poker. Valley Forge Casino is a strong competitor with $54.1 million in revenue for November. Rivers Casino Philadelphia secured third place with $34.7 million in igaming revenue.

### Revenue Recovery for Land-Based Slots

Although igaming is on the rise, traditional land-based slot machines still hold a significant lead. In November, revenue from these machines amounted to $201.5 million, reflecting a 6.2% increase year-on-year. However, revenue from retail table games declined by 2.5% to $77.6 million. Meanwhile, video game terminals (VLT) saw a 4.4% decrease to $3.2 million, and fantasy sports revenue dropped by 4.2% to $2.5 million.

Regarding taxes, Pennsylvania collected $232.8 million from all forms of gambling in November, with $101.5 million originating from physical slot machines and $12.9 million from land-based table games.
