Dutch operator Play North has named ex-Kindred chief commercial officer (CCO) Anne-Jaap Snijders as its new CEO, succeeding Patrick Azzopardi who moves into an advisory role.
The appointment comes three years after Snijders left Kindred in May 2023. The Stockholm-listed operator told EGR at the time that his exit was part of a review of its commercial and marketing operations.
Snijders, who has been a senior adviser at Play North for the past two years, spent almost 15 years at Kindred.
He joined in September 2008 as a spokesperson for Unibet and by August 2012 he was running Unibet Australia. A year later he became head of Western Europe, a role he held for more than five years before being named CCO in January 2019.

Before moving into gambling, Snijders was head of marketing at Ziggo Sports and Voetbal International.
The industry stalwart has also sat on the boards of Relax Gaming, Casino Blakenberge, and Dutch firm Keurmerk Verantwoorde Affiliates. He is currently chair of Padel Powers’ supervisory board.
In his role as CEO of Play North, Snijders will drive the operator’s growth strategy while “maintaining a strict focus on sustainable operations and tailored, high-performing brands in locally regulated markets,” a statement read.
In August, the operator was granted a five-year Dutch renewal licence for its Kansino.nl brand.
That same month, it was awarded a Portuguese gambling licence via its subsidiary Play Jogo and will soon launch its Vincino.pt brand in the country.
Play North’s brands include Kansino, Pikakasino and Vincino.
On 29 September, the Dutch parliament rejected a motion to introduce a blanket ban on gambling advertising, but plans to restrict marketing by online operators remain in place.
