2025 was a challenging year, though characterised by serious errors, fines and criticism
Gaming revenues for Norsk Tipping remained steady during 2025, coming in at NOK10.2bn (€920m), and generating a net profit of NOK7.69bn (€690m), making 2025 the operator’s second-best year ever.
The state-owned Norwegian operator said that 2025 was a ‘challenging year for Norsk Tipping, characterised by serious errors, fines and criticism.’ Nevertheless, the company has fulfilled its social aims with new, effective responsibility measures and the second-best financial result ever. NOK 7.823bn was allocated to ‘good causes.’
Acting CEO of Norsk Tipping, Vegar Strand, said: “2025 was demanding, but the figures show that we are still strong in our work on our social mission.”
Preventing gambling problems remained the company’s most important aim. In 2025, those efforts were further strengthened with new loss limits for the 20 to 24 year age group introduced, with good results. The Gambling Pulse Index showed a positive development, both overall and especially among players between the ages of 18 and 25.
Several serious errors led to considerable negative attention and large fines from the Gaming and Foundation Authority. The company implemented a large quality program for better control, testing and safe operation.
“We have learned a lot, and we have made improvements that will ensure higher quality in the future,” said Strand.
Despite the challenges, Norsk Tipping maintained a solid position in the market with 2.35m Norwegians playing at Norsk Tipping
Annual profit came in at NOK 7.693bn, again the company’s second-best-ever figure, superseeded only by the record year of 2024, which was characterised by extraordinary circumstances, such as the sale of shares in Buypass AS and unusually high financial income.
Chair of the Board Sylvia Brustad said; “The surplus is a result of regulation, not a goal in itself, but within the framework of responsibility, we will deliver as much as possible back to society. In a year with major challenges, I am pleased that we are delivering good results, both in terms of the work on prevention and on efficient operations.”
