Midnite has appointed Dale Tang as its new general manager for Canada, as the VC-backed operator looks to expand operations into the country.
Tang joins Midnite after having spent nearly five years in Canada-facing roles with Flutter-owned operator FanDuel.
Joining as commercial director for Canada in October 2021, he eventually worked his way up to senior director of commercial, analytics and retention for Canada from February 2026 onwards.
Prior to joining FanDuel, Tang spent three years employed by the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation, between June 2018 and October 2021.
There, he started as a senior strategy manager before being promoted to director of strategy and development.
Midnite’s Canada launch comes shortly after Alberta launched its regulated commercial market in July, following in the footsteps of Ontario in 2022.
Midnite also has two job ads live for positions in Canada: a casino manager and a senior platform engineer.
As per the job ads, it appears that Midnite is targeting a launch in Ontario, which regulated in April 2022, as its first port of call.
One of the duties on the casino manager ad reads: “Lead the go-to-market strategy for Midnite’s casino offering across Canada, including Ontario and future regulated provinces.”
The senior platform engineer comes with a salary of between C$170,000 (£90,000) and C$220,000 dependent on experience.
The successful candidate will “evolve the systems that power Midnite as we scale across markets, starting with our Canada launch”.
As per iGaming Ontario, the provincial regulator, there are 48 licensed online operators in the market. Those 48 operators run 83 sites across sports betting, online casino and poker.
According to H2 Gambling Capital, online gross gaming revenue in Ontario is set to more than double from C$4.2bn in 2025 to C$9bn in 2031.
The operator has already eyed up expansion outside of the UK market, opening its South Africa hub in July.
The company has ramped up its marketing efforts within the UK in recent months, having secured front-of-shirt sponsorship deals with Championship football teams Wolves and Middlesborough prior to the start of the season.
Writing on LinkedIn about his appointment, Tang said: “Five years ago, I had the chance to join FanDuel Canada in its earliest days.
“Along the way, I learned from exceptional leaders and incredible peers – and most importantly, had the chance to build an amazing team I got to work alongside every day. It’s been one of the most rewarding chapters of my career, which made this decision anything but easy.
“But the chance to build something new in Canada doesn’t come around often – so I’m excited to share that I’ve joined Midnite to lead its launch into the Canadian market.
“To everyone at FanDuel – thank you for the trust, the experience and the friendships. It’s been such a fun ride.”
Tang becomes the latest Flutter alumni to join Midnite, with the firm having appointed ex-SkyBet marketing lead Andrew Mook as head of brand marketing in May 2025.
