Josh Wilson is to step down as CEO of Light & Wonder’s social casino division SciPlay when his current contract expires on 30 October.

Light & Wonder CFO Oliver Chow will oversee the SciPlay brand on an interim basis while the company searches for Wilson’s successor.

Wilson has led SciPlay since May 2019, having moved to Light & Wonder in December 2013.

He initially joined the company in its Scientific Games moniker – prior to the rebrand to Light & Wonder – as executive director of social games products.

After spells as vice-president of product and product and operations, Wilson went on to work as COO of social gaming in April 2016.

He was then appointed CEO of the social division in January 2019, before the arm’s spinoff into SciPlay later that year.

Prior to Light & Wonder, Wilson spent nearly 18 months between June 2012 and December 2013 at Williams Interactive, heading up its social gaming division.

He previously served as director of online gaming at supplier Phantom EFX for 11 years from March 2001 to June 2012.

On Wilson’s departure, Light & Wonder president and CEO Matt Wilson said: “Josh has made a substantial contribution to SciPlay over more than two decades, taking the business through its initial public offering and building a portfolio of leading social casino titles alongside a strong team and culture.

“On behalf of the board and the leadership team, I thank him for that contribution and wish him well. We are taking the time to appoint the right leader for SciPlay’s next phase.

“In the meantime, Oliver will work closely with the talented and experienced SciPlay leadership team, whose deep knowledge of the business, brands and players will provide important continuity as we move through this transition.

“Our confidence in the social casino category, in SciPlay’s brands and in the opportunity to grow direct-to-consumer remains unchanged.”

The supplier confirmed Wilson’s departure will not alter its strategy for the social casino business or its portfolio of social casino brands.

Last month, Light & Wonder reported revenue of A$828m (£433.4m) for the second quarter of 2026, driven by strong performances across North America.
