LCKY Group has added former Gaming Innovation Group (GiG) senior legal counsel Neil Chetcuti as general counsel.

Chetcuti arrives from Sportingtech, where he spent the last two-and-a-half years as the supplier’s head of legal.

Prior to that role, he spent six years at GiG.

Joining in May 2018 as legal counsel, he was promoted to senior legal counsel in July 2020 and stayed until May 2024.

GiG was his first job in the igaming industry, having spent just under three years at Maltese law firm Fenech Farrugia Fiott Legal as an associate and senior associate between August 2015 and May 2018.

At LCKY Group, Chetcuti will be tasked with supporting various divisions of the business as the casino operator and B2B supplier looks to expand into regulated markets across the globe.

He will also spearhead its legal function, which includes former Evolution and Immense Group head Michelle Meilak as legal counsel.

Commenting on the appointment, LCKY Group CEO Richard Brown said: “As a company that’s always on the lookout for new opportunities to expand in regulated markets, we need a legal function that’s capable of supporting these ambitions, and with Neil driving our strategy, I’m sure we’ll be in very good hands moving forward.”

Chetcuti added: “The group’s portfolio has recently grown with the acquisition of RoyalCasino and there are still many more exciting expansion opportunities to come, so I’m really looking forward to using my experience to lead our legal function and support all international operations as we continue to scale in future.”

At the start of the year, Glitnor Group rebranded to LCKY Group with plans to expanding globally – leading to the launch of LuckyCasino in Spain in April.

The month prior, LCKY Group hired former Light & Wonder chief technology officer (CTO) Alex Manning to the same position.

In July, Brown spoke to EGR about the company’s rebrand and May’s acquisition of Danish-facing brand RoyalCasino.
