Streaming service Kick has announced that starting February 2025, it will only allow gambling-related content from websites that verify the age of their users.

Kick, created by Stake’s co-founders Bijan Tehrani and Ed Craven in October 2022 and powered by Easygo, gained popularity especially after Twitch, a competing platform, prohibited several Crypto-focused operators like Stake, Roobet, Duelbits, and Rollbit in September of the same year.

That year, Twitch also declared a ban on the streaming of gambling websites offering slots, roulette, or dice games that are not licensed in the US or regions with robust consumer protection laws.

In its latest effort to safeguard its community, Kick used X, formerly known as Twitter, to unveil a series of updates to its guidelines.

Among these updates is a new requirement that, as of 1 February 2025, streaming of gambling content will only be allowed from sites that verify players’ age through identification.

This new policy aims to prevent the promotion of gambling sites that fail to restrict access to underage users on Kick.

Kick stated: “Starting 1 February 2025, gambling-related content will only be allowed from sites that require users to verify they are over 18.”

Additional platform updates, unrelated to gambling, feature a collaboration with the Internet Watch Foundation (IWF), enhancing Kick’s capacity to tackle harmful and exploitative content proactively.

The announcement on X had a mixed reception, with users expressing various positive and negative reactions in the comments.

Some users dubbed Kick as “Twitch 2.0,” while others praised the update as a “W” (short for win).

Kick’s updated guidelines were revealed a month after well-known American internet figure and streamer Adin Ross announced his decision to quit gambling streams on the platform.

Ross remarked: “I’m taking this very seriously, and you guys will notice when I stop gambling. I’m sorry, but it’s the truth. I’m not holding back anymore…”

He continued, “Why would I invest $1 million in a slot machine rather than $1 million in my content?

“That same million dollars could potentially earn me millions. Do you understand what I’m saying?” he added.
