Kalshi has announced its impeding launch in the Canadian market via a partnership with Toronto-based investment firm Wealthsimple.

Kalshi’s almost 4,000 event contracts related to financial markets, climate and economic indicators will be available to trade on the new Wealthsimple Predict platform.

Wealthsimple was granted authority to offer event and forecast contract trading by the Canadian Investment Regulatory Organisation (CIRO) in March.

The standalone Wealthsimple Predict app, which is currently in the beta testing phase, is slated to launch in Canada this summer.

Kalshi chief of staff Alex Cuoci said: “Kalshi was founded on a simple belief: views on the future should have markets, and those markets should be available to everyone.

“That’s why we’re partnering with Wealthsimple, Canada’s leading financial innovator – to give everyday investors in Canada access to fair, secure and regulated prediction markets.”

Brett Huneycutt, co-founder and chief product officer at Wealthsimple, added: “Prediction markets are the fastest-growing segment of global financial markets, letting traders turn an opinion into a position on the factors that shape our world – where inflation is headed, what happens to rates or how the year unfolds.

“Until now, Canadians have had limited access. Wealthsimple Predict gives Canadians a clean, well-designed way to access these markets, with education and guardrails built in from day one.”

Kalshi has risen to become oneof the leading companies in the prediction market space as the vertical has surged in popularity over the last 18 months.

In May, the New York-headquartered startup achieved a $22bn valuation following a $1bn Series F funding round.

During a Series E funding round in December 2025, which also raised $1bn, Kalshi said the capital would be used to fund its expansion efforts as the platform looked to “strike new partnerships and broaden its product offerings”.

The company has met more resistance in Europe however, with regulators from a host of countries releasing a joint statement threating action against prediction market platforms.

Kalshi and rival prediction markets site Polymarket were also blocked in Spain last month after the government opened up disciplinary proceedings against the pair.
