Gentoo Media CFO Mads Haugegaard Albrechtsen has resigned after 15 months with the Malta-headquartered affiliate.

Albrechtsen joined the Stockholm-listed firm in February 2025 after a spell with Deloitte Denmark, having previously spent five years at rival accountancy firm PwC.

He succeeded Tore Formo in the role at Gentoo, who shifted to company secretary and head of corporate governance.

Gentoo Media said the board and management were “in the process of hiring a new CFO to support Gentoo Media’s next phase of development”.

The affiliate did not disclose details as to how long the process may take, nor if a recruitment agency had been hired to support the search.

Albrechtsen will engage in “close and constructive dialogue” with the business to “ensure a smooth and responsible handover of responsibilities”, Gentoo Media added.

The finance chief played a pivotal role as Gentoo Media established itself as a standalone business following the split from Gaming Innovation Group in 2024.

Gentoo Media reported Q1 2026 revenue of €24m earlier this month and a transition to a “leaner, more focused and more profitable business”.

The affiliate, which owns sites including AskGamblers, CasinoTopsOnline and Time2play, reported EBITDA of €10.5m – a 19% year-on-year increase.

Gentoo Media’s shares are down 18% over the past 12 months to SEK5.7 (45p), while over the past six months, the stock has slumped 32% alone. Its shares were delisted from the Euronext Oslo Børs last year.

As part of a cost-cutting drive, management shuttered the Norwich hub in Q1, resulting in 41 redundancies.

Jonas Warrer, Gentoo Media CEO, said: “We would like to thank Mads for his dedication and collaboration during a period of significant change for Gentoo Media.

“Mads has played an important role in the transformation initiated in 2025, including strengthening financial processes, supporting the company’s strategic realignment and helping build a leaner and more focused organisation.

“As Gentoo Media now enters its next phase, we are maintaining a constructive dialogue regarding the upcoming transition and share a common commitment to ensuring a stable and responsible handover for the benefit of the company, its employees and other stakeholders.”

Speaking on his exit, Albrechsten said: “I am grateful for the time I have spent at Gentoo Media and look forward to contributing to a smooth transition during the coming period.”

Gentoo Media slipped one spot to fifth in the 2026 edition of the EGR Power Affiliates
