LiveScore Group COO Harald Goeschl is set to depart the business after seven years of service, EGR can exclusively reveal.

Goeschl, who joined the business in 2017 as head of sports operations, has played a fundamental role in building up LiveScore Group across its media and sports betting arms.

In 2019, the former bwin exec was named director of sportsbook before being promoted to chief sportsbook officer in January 2020.

In this role, Goeschl was pivotal in overseeing the development of LiveScore Group’s sports, trading, customer service and payments divisions.

Then, in May 2022, Goeschl added technology and product to his remit as he was promoted to COO, where he has remained ever since.

EGR understands that LiveScore Group is not planning to replace Goeschl with an external candidate given the existing expertise and talent within the leadership team.

The COO’s official departure date will be 30 September.

LiveScore Group, which encompasses sports betting operators LiveScore Bet and Virgin Bet as well as the LiveScore media brand, has grown exponentially since being established in 2019.

The business was formed after a demerger from Gamesys Group, with Goeschl playing a key role in that development ever since.

The business recently transitioned to a Kambi-powered sportsbook for its B2C brands, replacing SBTech in the process.

Speaking to EGR on his decision to exit the company, Goeschl said: “LiveScore Group has evolved into a remarkable success story, consistently achieving high double-digit growth each year.

“With the recent completion of the sportsbook migration to Kambi, the business is well-positioned for continued success.

“Personally, I feel this is the right moment to move on, knowing that LiveScore Group is on a solid trajectory for future growth.”

EGR also understands that Goeschl is planning to return to the industry after a six-month break.

Goeschl added: “I’m excited to dive back into what I love: sports and building exceptional products with an exceptional service behind them so that customers can truly enjoy their experience.”

Sam Sadi, LiveScore Group CEO, said: “Harald’s dedication, versatility and leadership over the past seven years have been instrumental in shaping our success.

“I am deeply grateful for all he has contributed and wish him the very best in his future endeavours.

“While I am saddened by his departure, I am confident the foundation he has helped develop during his tenure will continue to benefit our business for many years to come.”

This summer, Sadi spoke to EGR to delve into his concerns regarding the Dutch market, why Kambi was the best option and the power of convergence by using its media brand.
