**Betting and Gaming Council Achieves Record Online Engagement during Safer Gambling Week 2024**

The Betting and Gaming Council (BGC) has announced that Safer Gambling Week 2024 has achieved unprecedented online engagement and reach.

Campaigns associated with #SGWeek2024 have set new milestones on social media platforms, amassing more than 60 million impressions on X, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Instagram.

Statistics for this year’s campaign, which focuses on promoting awareness about safer gambling tools, interventions, and treatment services, show an impressive 21% increase compared to the previous year.

The campaign received recognition from senior MPs and peers across parties, including gambling minister Baroness Fiona Twycross and shadow ministers such as Shadow DCMS Secretary Stuart Andrew MP, applauding the effectiveness of #SGWeek2024.

This year, the initiative was fully endorsed by the Gambling Commission, with support from its Chief Executive, Andrew Rhodes.

Several prominent football clubs, including Premier League teams Tottenham Hotspur, Aston Villa, and Southampton, were among the supporters of Safer Gambling Week 2024, helping to convey its message to millions of fans.

The campaign also attracted over half a million visits to the Safer Gambling Week website, which provides guidance and resources for those needing assistance, along with tips on responsible gambling tools like setting deposit limits and taking time-outs.

Running for eight years, Safer Gambling Week aims to ignite a national dialogue among staff, customers, and their networks about responsible gambling, while shedding light on available tools to help individuals maintain control over their betting activities.

BGC Chief Executive Grainne Hurst highlighted: “These remarkable and groundbreaking results demonstrate our industry’s dedication to promoting the use of safer gambling tools and directing those in need of help and support to the right places.”

“While we’re awaiting more data on the adoption of safer gambling tools, historical trends indicate that increasing social media engagement correlates with the greater use of influential tools like time-outs and deposit limits, unique to the regulated industry.”

“Safer Gambling Week empowers millions to better understand how to safely enjoy this pastime, which is an achievement the entire industry can be proud of.”

“As I mentioned at the start of the week, our commitment to safer gambling extends beyond just one week—it is our mission every single week of the year.”

Organized collaboratively by the Betting and Gaming Council, BACTA, and the Bingo Association, the Safer Gambling Week initiative strived to disseminate responsible gambling messages both online and at physical locations, fostering a national conversation about the importance of responsible betting practices.
