Dreamcraft Ventures, Better Collective’s investment firm, has promoted investment manager Mathilde Lyet to investment principal 12 months after she joined the division.

The firm, which was established in 2012 by Better Collective co-founders Jesper Søgaard and Christian Kirk Rasmussen, places an emphasis on early-stage ventures and has a portfolio stretching across the igaming sector, as well as fashion, payments and retail.

Lyet brings plenty of experience to her latest role, with the incoming investment principal currently on the board of multiple different companies, as well as being an investor for Steerlab, We Are Learning and Humani.

Prior to the move to Dreamcraft in September 2023, Lyet spent more than three years at Maersk Growth, initially joining as a venture capital associate in May 2020 before being promoted to senior venture capital associate in January 2022.

She departed the company in September 2023 after an 11-month stint as investment manager.

An experienced investor, Lyet also spent just under two years as a private equity analyst at the Paris-based Societe Generale Corporate and Investment Banking between September 2018 and May 2020.

Dreamcraft general partner Daniel Nyvang-Székely Mariussen said Lyet’s “strong dedication” and “leadership qualities” led to her promotion.

“Her promotion is not only a recognition of her past accomplishments but a signal of the exciting future ahead,” Mariussen explained.

“Mathilde, I’m excited to see how you’ll continue to shape Dreamcraft’s success and culture as we move forward.”

On her role change with Dreamcraft, Lyet said: “I want to thank Daniel, Carsten [Gjoertler Salling, GP], Jesper [Søgaard], Nico [Blier-Silvestri, partner], and the rest of the Dreamcrafters for allowing me to step up as a principal and giving me real ownership from day one.

“The past 12 months have been a whirlwind – both hectic and fun – with a steep learning curve as I transitioned into a more generalist early-stage investor role.

“I’m grateful for every conversation with founders, innovators and fellow investors. A special thank you to the incredible founders we partner with – your confidence means the world. There’s always more to learn, and I can’t wait to see what we’ll achieve together as we keep pushing forward.”

The news of Lyet’s promotion comes less than four months after Dreamcraft secured the services of ex-Playmaker Capital CEO Jordan Gnat as a limited partner.

Gnat joined after Better Collective finalised the €176m deal for Playmaker Capital in February.

He is expected to leverage his “network and industry expertise to source promising investments, guiding portfolio companies through strategic growth phases and providing valuable mentorship”.
