BetMGM has launched BetMGM Jackpots in Michigan, a new progressive side bet jackpot feature, with plans to expand into other US states later this year.

The feature is designed to give online casino players in Michigan further opportunities to win while playing casino games.

Players can opt in to place a fixed $0.10 side bet next to eligible casino games, of which there are currently more than 200.

BetMGM Jackpots has its own interface whereby customers can view eligible games, jackpot values and recent jackpot winners.

Each side bet contributes to a shared progressive jackpot network, with jackpot values growing as side bets accumulate until a win. Side bet participation is optional and has no impact on the result of the initial casino game being played.

There are four jackpot tiers – mini, beginning at $100, minor at $6,000, major at $30,000 and mega at $500,000, with the latter standing presently at over $618,000 and continuing to grow.

FanDuel unveiled a similar feature in April last year – FanDuel Casino Jackpots. The Flutter-owned firm’s launch was built on the acquired BeyondPlay assets.

Oliver Bartlett, BetMGM’s vice-president of gaming, said: “Igaming continues to be the growth engine of our business, fuelled by product innovation and differentiated player experiences.

“SideBet Jackpots expands the ways players can engage with our casino offering while creating additional opportunities to win across a growing network of games.

“It’s another example of how we’re investing in product enhancements that help distinguish BetMGM Casino.”

BetMGM reported modest revenue growth for Q2 at the end of July, with a 3% increase to $711m. Highlights for the quarter included a strong World Cup, a brand refresh for Borgata and the launch in newly regulated Alberta.
