Virginia joined several other US states in setting a new monthly sports betting record during November, with the state reporting all-time high revenue.

Adjusted gross sports betting revenue across online and land-based activities for the month hit $95.3 million. This was 10.3% more than the prior record of $86.4 million, set during November 2024, and it was 26.6% above October 2025.

Data from the Virginia Lottery showed $95.1 million of all revenue came from online betting. The remaining $193,052 was attributed to in-person sports wagering inside Virginia casinos.

Spending-wise, gross sports betting handle for the month hit $798.9 million. This beat the previous year by 5% but fell 3.9% short of October’s $831.6 million record.

Players in Virginia spent $793.6 million betting on sports online, plus $5.3 million at retail wagering facilities.

Virginia cleared $14M in taxes from sports betting

The lottery did not publish a breakdown of the performances of each active operator in the state’s market. Some 14 licensed mobile operators took bets during November, as well as three authorised casinos.

However, it did offer further insight into the wider market. This included that players received back a total of $699.7 million from sports betting during the month.

No allowable bonuses or promotions were reported, but some $3.9 million in undisclosed other deductions were accounted for.

Tax-wise, operators made $14.3 million in payments for the month. Of this, $13.9 million went to the General Fund Allocation. The remaining $356,865 was directed to the Problem Gambling Treatment and Support Fund Allocation.

Sports betting revenue hit a record monthly high of $95.3 million in Virginia.
