The Casino Emperor Palace and Waldo Casino, two of Macau’s long-standing casinos, are set to close by the end of October, according to statements from their respective operators.

This leaves seven satellite casinos still operating in the region. SJM Resorts, which runs The Casino Emperor Palace inside the Grand Emperor Hotel, commented saying the decision aligns with its commitment to the Macao SAR Government’s policy of promoting a healthier and more sustainable direction for the local gaming industry. The company continues to support the region’s broader goals of long-term stability and responsible growth.

The closures come as Macau’s casino landscape continues to tighten, with the government’s broader effort to take the economy toward greater diversification beyond gaming. Several more satellite casinos are reportedly expected to stop operations before the year comes to a close.

SJM Resorts said the casino’s tables and machines will be transferred to other properties within its network to ensure uninterrupted service for patrons. Waldo Casino, operating under a Galaxy Entertainment Group license, is housed in the Waldo Hotel near the Outer Harbour on the Macau Peninsula.
