“Beer” Anusorn Pothong, a Thai social media personality with over 7.2 million followers on TikTok, says online gambling addiction ruined his personal and professional life.
The influencer, who also has 835,000 followers on Facebook, said his gambling-related debts spiraled to the $621,000 mark, the Thai media outlet Khaosod Online reported.
Pothong said he had borrowed money from his siblings and other family members. He said he has so far paid off about $155,000 of his debts, but still owes relatives about $465,000.
The star said he had committed to reforming his ways and was paying back his loans at a rate of $3,700 per day.
In a video post on Facebook that has received 274,000 likes, Pothong explained he had been drawn to online gambling, mistakenly believing it would provide a quick way to make money.
However, the star said his gambling habit soon spiraled out of control, draining his savings and leaving him destitute.

‘Beer’ Warns Fans Not to Gamble
Pothong said that he had “lost everything” as a result of his gambling addiction, with his relatives no longer trusting him, and his business suffering as a result.
The star has launched a line of personal hygiene products, but said his addiction had left the business in tatters.
“I have to pay off all my debts,” Pothong told his followers in the video. “I’ve been left with only a baht or two to get by on each day. I have a cleansing products business, but I don’t have the money to order any more products.”
“I’ve made this video for my fans,” he said. “I won’t be angry if anyone criticizes or gloats as a result. I’m grateful for the reminders they provide. And I am very thankful to those who send me messages of encouragement.”
Pothong urged followers to stay away from online gambling platforms. He warned that when it comes to online casinos, “the house always wins.”
“I want to warn my fans and followers: Quit, if you can,” he said. “Anyone who has made the same mistake as me, anyone who gambles, it ruins your family. You will fall, and you will never get back up.”
The star added that the psychological toll of online casino addiction can be just as damaging as the financial cost.
Last month, police in Phitsanulok, Phitsanulok Province, carried out eight arrest warrants after dismantling an online gambling platform named Eu9thaff.
Officers say that four more suspects remain at large.
