Société des Bains de Mer also scoops Best Casino at European Casino Awards
The revival of traditional table gaming is continuing apace for Monte Carlo operator Société des Bains de Mer and its subsidiaries, who saw a 25 per cent jump in its consolidated turnover during the third quarter of 2025/2026, boosted by a 45 per cent increase in table gaming revenue, although all sectors of activity contributed to this strong growth.
The operator’s fine start to the year was cemented with The Casino de Monte-Carlo and the Casino Café de Paris shining at the European Casino Awards ceremony, presented by the European Casino Association (ECA) on January 19, as part of the ICE Barcelona trade show. The Group received the highest distinction for both of its gaming establishments: Best Overall Casino.
With regards to the financial performance, gaming led the way. Revenue was €75.5m for the past quarter compared to €45.2m in the same period last year. This exceptional increase of €30.3m was driven by the operator’s table games and an increase in volumes of 45 per cent. Revenues from automatic machines were also up by 29 per cent.
The hotel sector recorded a seven per cent increase in revenue, which stood at €65.3m compared to €61.1m in 2024/2025. The accommodation business continued to grow, supported by individual customers and the increase in average daily rates. The restaurant business posted more marked growth, benefiting in particular from the momentum of the end-of-year celebrations as well as a favorable scope effect linked to the opening, in August 2025, of the Pâtisserie Cédric Grolet at the Hôtel de Paris.
The rental sector, which includes the rental of shops and offices as well as the activities of the Monte-Carlo Bay, Balmoral and One Monte-Carlo residences and the Villas du Sporting, posted revenue of €39.6 million compared to €38m previously. This increase is mainly due to the finalisation of the rental of the new commercial spaces available at the Café de Paris, a very low vacancy rate, as well as the contractual application of rent indexation.
For the first nine months of the year, the Société des Bains de Mer Group’s consolidated revenue amounted to €722.m, compared with €638.6m for the same period of the previous year, an increase of 13 per cent.
Stéphane Valeri, Chairman and Deputy Chairman of Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer: “These good results are above our expectations. They confirm the effectiveness of our strategic choices in all our business segments, which are all growing, reinforced this quarter by the positive risk of table games, and are fully in line with the objectives set for the current financial year.”
The resurgence hasn’t gone unnoticed. Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer was awarded the highly coveted Best Overall Casino prize—an honour recognizing a casino’s overall excellence based on several criteria, including the quality and diversity of the games offered, user experience, customer service, and player safety.
These criteria have been rigorously applied by both casinos of the Monegasque Group since the creation of the Casino de Monte-Carlo in 1863. In 2025, attendance at the venue increased by eight per cent compared to the previous year. Over the same period, attendance at the Casino Café de Paris rose by seven per cent. Founded in 2016 and featuring nearly 400 state-of-the-art slot machines, the Casino Café de Paris has for the past ten years embodied the adrenaline and excitement of a modern, bold Monte-Carlo, offering the largest slot machine floor on the French Riviera and spectacular entertainment throughout the year. Its upcoming renovation, scheduled for completion in spring 2027, will deliver an even more modern and innovative gaming venue for players.
In addition, the My Monte-Carlo loyalty program recorded an 89 per cent increase in new players in 2025 compared with the previous year.
The year 2025 was particularly marked by major events at the Casino Café de Paris, which notably hosted the European premiere of Aristocrat Gaming’s new Phoenix Link slot machines at the beginning of the year. Their arrival was celebrated with a spectacular show featuring 500 drones flying above the Place du Casino. In June, the famous gorilla King Kong took over the venue during an inauguration co-organized with Light & Wonder, where dancers, acrobats, and the Lucky Wheel transported players into the heart of the jungle. In September, guests were also able to travel around the world during a special evening filled with entertainment, themed dancers, and cocktails. Players had the chance to win one of four trips, to Kenya, Spain, Brazil, or Japan.
Meanwhile, the Casino de Monte-Carlo further enhanced its Grand Art de Vivre offering by opening the Monte Carlo Cigar Club in May. Located within the Casino de Monte-Carlo, on the site of the former office of François Blanc, founder of the Société des Bains de Mer, this ultra-private club now welcomes the world’s most discerning cigar aficionados.
Valeri added: “I warmly congratulate and thank Cédric Lorenzi, Director of Gaming Operations, and all his teams at the Casino de Monte-Carlo and the Casino Café de Paris for this magnificent Best Overall Casino award, just received at the European Casino Awards held in Barcelona. The efforts made day and night by all our employees in the SBM Gaming division contribute to making Monte-Carlo an ever-stronger gaming destination on the international stage.”
