Swiss Casinos has developed a new strategic business segment. With ReelLink, Swiss Casinos brings the speed of innovation from iGaming into land-based casinos, while maintaining the security, compliance and economic efficiency of the traditional casino floor. One hundred per cent “Swiss made software”.
According to Swiss Casinos, land-based casino industry is among the most highly regulated sectors and, at the same time, one of the slowest to innovate. New game content is closely tied to physical machines and long manufacturer development cycles. While digital offerings evolve rapidly, the casino floor often remains unchanged for years.
Swiss Casinos decided it could no longer accept this limitation. The goal was to enable innovation in land-based casinos without compromising security, compliance or operational stability. The result is ReelLink, a software-based solution that fully integrates digital game content into existing casino management and control systems.
When content becomes more important than hardware
Historically, the land-based casino industry has been strongly hardware-driven. Game content, innovation cycles and revenue models are closely linked to physical slot machines.
ReelLink shifts this focus. What matters is no longer the individual gaming machine, but access to content. Game offerings are controlled, bundled and updated via software, independent of the underlying hardware.
A key starting point was a content gap. Many of the most successful online casino games had not previously been available in land-based operations. For a relevant customer segment, this meant that precisely the content they knew from the digital environment and actively demanded was missing.
“A growing customer segment was familiar with game content from the online space that simply wasn’t available in land-based casinos. ReelLink has closed exactly this gap,” says Deborah Conte Santoro, Managing Director of ReelLink.
Innovation under regulatory conditions
The development of ReelLink began with the question of whether such a solution could even be realised under strict regulatory requirements. Compliance was therefore not treated as an afterthought, but integrated into the system architecture from the very beginning. Every game process follows the same regulatory standards as traditional slot machines.
ReelLink has been certified by BMM Testlabs and meets the regulatory requirements for land-based casino operations.
To support the targeted expansion of this new business segment, Swiss Casinos founded a dedicated technology company, Swiss Casinos Technology AG. The company consolidates the development and operation of ReelLink and underscores the long-term ambition to further develop the solution as an independent technology business. Swiss Casinos Technology AG is certified to ISO 27001 for information security and ISO 14001 for environmental management. ReelLink also carries the “Swiss made software” label.
“We decided not to accept a structural problem any longer, but to solve it ourselves. The fact that this has now become an independent technology business shows the innovation potential that is possible even in highly regulated markets,” says Marcel Tobler, CEO of the Swiss Casinos Group.
ReelLink is already live in operation within the highly regulated Swiss casino market at Swiss Casino Winterthur and Pfäffikon, integrating directly into existing management and compliance systems. Certified online games can be deployed on approved slot machines within seconds. This software-based approach gives land-based casinos the speed and flexibility of iGaming, while preserving the security, compliance and economic efficiency of the traditional casino floor.
