Svenska Spel has reported a 2% year-on-year (YoY) increase in net gaming revenue (NGR) for Q1 on the back of continued improvements across all verticals.
NGR was SEK1.9bn (£141m), an increase of SEK30m on Q1 2025.
The majority of that figure came from from the group’s lottery arm, Tur, which reported NGR of SEK1.3bn.
The 2% YoY increase was driven by new product launches, with scratchcard game Triss also performing positively during the quarter.
Sports and casino NGR grew 3% YoY to SEK565m on the back of increased customer activity, higher average stakes per player and continued growth on the Oddset brand.
The operator said it added an autospin feature for online casino, and responsible gambling measures have been introduced for customers who play for an “extended period of time” without a break.
The Winter Olympics also contributed to “increased interest compared to the corresponding previous championships”.
Svenska Spel’s land-based slots business, Vegas, slumped 17% YoY to SEK63m, with the state-owned operator pointing to customers switching to online gaming and “fewer partners” as the reason behind the fall.
Online NGR grew 7% YoY to SEK1.3bn, accounting for 67% of the group’s total NGR.
Operating profit increased from SEK634m to SEK659m, representing 4% YoY growth, because of increased revenues and costs remaining the same as the previous year.
Svenska Spel’s operating margin grew from 34% to 35% YoY.
Commenting on the quarterly results, CEO Anna Johnson said: “The first quarter of the year is characterised by increased net gaming revenue, improved operating profit and strengthened operating margin, driven by brands such as Lotto and Oddset.
“The quarter is also characterised by successes for Swedish sports, where our commitment contributes to strengthening both sports and our business.”
The CEO also highlighted that the operator has identified three priorities for the remainder of 2026, the first being sustainable growth and focusing on Svenska Spel’s strong product.
The other two are “underway” and include a focus on customer encounters in the future with a renewed brand, as well as the “transformation of primarily organisation and technology for next-generation gaming experiences”, she added.
Per eGaming Monitor, Svenska Spel is the biggest operator in Sweden with 21.56% of traffic.
