Sun International reported revenue of ZAR2.1bn (£94.2m) for its online arm Sunbet for full-year 2025, marking a 76% year-on-year (YoY) jump on the back of increased customer activity.
The ZAR2.1bn figure was up from ZAR1.2bn reported the previous year.
Adjusted EBITDA for Sun International’s online division stood at ZAR744m, a 110% increase YoY from the ZAR355m reported in 2024.
The operator said the improvement reflected “the benefits of operating leverage, efficient cost management and sustained engagement across the product suit” on top of increased omnichannel activity from customers.
Active player days increased over 70% YoY and first time depositors jumped 48% YoY, with unique active players up 41% and total deposits reporting a 102% jump.
It was Sunbet’s fourth consecutive year of strong income and growth among “all key metrics”, the operator highlighted.

In a statement, CEO Ulrik Bengtsson said as part of the operator’s vision to be a “digitally-led organisation”, significant work had gone into building its digital and technology capabilities, including several appointments.
Leslie Peters joined as the South African operator’s new chief technology and product officer at the end of 2025.
In its operational review, the South African land-based and online operator said of Sunbet’s performance: “We continue to focus on the user experience and product capability supported by strong momentum in customer acquisition and retention.”
The operator added it launched a live dealer roulette product from its Sun City land-based resort, a first in South Africa, and that it had become one of its top performing offerings “and demonstrates the strength of our omnichannel strategy”.
Other highlights included the launch of Sunbet Botswana in February 2025.
Bengtsson added: “2025 was a transition year during which we made progress towards realising our ambition to become a digitally-led, market leading, omnichannel gaming company of scale.
“During H2, we assessed the company’s potential and operational capabilities and agreed a five-year value creation plan with the board.”
