Stake has announced its latest foray into regulated markets worldwide by launching in Mexico.

The crypto-first operator will run its Stake.mx platform in the country, acting as an agent under Uno Capali’s licence agreement.

This forms part of a permit-based deal sanctioned by Mexico’s Ministry of Interior. Various operators, as per their terms and conditions, note they are live via a similar arrangement with Uno Capali.

Those include BetMexico, Pickwin, Matchbook, Draftea and PlayUZU. Uno Capali itself has a relationship with Producciones Móviles, the holder of the main licence from the government.

Stake said the platform will provide a “premium user experience with cutting-edge technology, a wide-ranging content portfolio and a strong mobile-first offering tailored to local preferences” for Mexican players.

The online giant highlighted that the upcoming FIFA World Cup has played a major part in the timing behind the Mexico launch.

The tournament, due to kick off in June, will be hosted at venues across North America, with games played in the US, Canada and Mexico.

Mexico recently upped its GGR tax rate from 30% to 50%, placing a significant burden on operators in the market.

As per EGM data, Mexico is dominated by Caliente, a JV run by London-listed Playtech and Caliplay. Other major operators in the market (based on traffic) include Codere and bet365.

A Stake statement read: “Mexico’s sports-led betting culture, high mobile penetration and increasing digital adoption make it a natural fit for Stake’s offering.

“Mexico’s role as a co-host nation for the upcoming 2026 World Cup – alongside the US and Canada – adds further strategic weight to the timing of this launch.

“Entering the market ahead of one of the world’s largest sporting events positions Stake to capitalise on significant commercial and consumer brand-building opportunities.”

Mexico becomes the latest Latam territory Stake has entered, following on from recent launches in Peru and Colombia.

Stake director Jarrod Febbraio said: “Mexico is an important and exciting market for us – one that combines strong underlying growth with a deep cultural connection to sport, which aligns perfectly with what Stake is built for.

“We’ve built significant momentum across Latin America in recent years, including in markets such as Peru and Colombia, and Mexico represents a natural next step given its scale and long-term potential.

“With Mexico set to co-host the 2026 football World Cup tournament, the timing of this launch reflects our ability to move with precision into high-value markets at the right moment.

“It gives us the opportunity to establish a strong presence ahead of one of the biggest sporting events in the world and deliver a world-class experience for Mexican players.”

Stake has also made moves in Europe over the last few months, launching in Denmark in February as well as securing a place in Italy’s revamped gambling market.
