SEO Tracker: Market concentration and visibility spikes shake up Stickyeyes online poker leaderboard

The online poker market has seen some significant changes across the board since the first half of the year, with a general trend towards keyword concentration and losses in visibility points of up to 74%. This has had the main effect of competitors dropping many ranked keywords, especially long-tailed ones, to try and consolidate their visibility among high-value core terms.

However, industry search demand is still relatively healthy overall, with these core terms achieving decent search volumes and a spike in visibility among certain keyword clusters and niches.

Within the top 10, this has led to a degree of movement. PokerStars UK, 888poker and Unibet have all dropped significantly in visibility, with Sky Poker, Poker.org and Betfred dropping out altogether. Partypoker and 247 Free Poker have both moved up the tables, and new entries Hippodrome, Genting Casinos and PokerStars Live are benefitting from new-found visibility in selected areas.

Keyword concentration sharpens

Across the top 10, we can see a large reduction in ranked keywords, with a midpoint average decline of around 75% compared to the first half of 2026. As previously mentioned, many of the dropped keywords are long-tailed and/or had only recently entered the ranking tables. Analysis therefore shows trends toward a strong quality-over-quantity emphasis among the leaders, with a preference towards consistently highly ranked keywords.

The biggest winner in the high-value rankings is partypoker, which has jumped to first place. While the Entain-owned brand may have dropped 57% of its ranked keywords, partypoker has only lost 17% of its total visibility score. That’s an impressive feat, with overall visibility declining as keyword footprints become increasingly concentrated.

This is almost certainly due to a strong focus on core keyword efficiency, with fewer, more commercially valuable terms prioritised. Given the speed of decline in visibility from competitors such as Unibet, it is also possible that partypoker have managed to absorb some of the rankings and traffic that these brands lost.

After core high-value terms such as ‘play poker’, the most popular keywords trend towards gameplay and game-specific queries. 888poker ranks top for ‘Texas hold’em’ clusters, while primarily land-based entities such as Hippodrome appear to be picking up dropped traffic from keyword niches such as ’live poker’ and ‘poker tournament’.

These niches have grown significantly since the first half of 2026, and it will be interesting to see whether they continue to grow and whether the same competitors hold the high ranks.

Land-based casinos consume live poker niche

The current drive toward core keyword concentration has yielded some surprising wins for land-based competitors Hippodrome and Genting. Hippodrome, in particular, has absorbed niche keywords and traffic from the former leaders, shooting to second place with an estimated 22% of the visibility share.

These competitors, as previously mentioned, are benefitting strongly from tournament and live game searches, ranking highly from ‘poker live tournament’ and ‘casino poker’, as well as a growth in venue-based queries. In the first half of 2026, these keyword clusters were held almost exclusively by online operators; in the second half, however, PokerStars UK, PlayWSOP, 888poker and Unibet have lost a combined total of 22,954 clicks for the same groups.

When viewed in this context, the gains of land-based competitors of thousands of clicks in a market rushing to drop these keywords is even more impressive. These niches could potentially provide fertile ground for future expansion, as well as growing search engine trust scores.

PokerStars ranks twice with divide-and-conquer strategy

PokerStars’ position in the second half of 2026 is unique and makes for some interesting analysis. Although Flutter-owned UK site has suffered immense losses as a result of the intense keyword concentration mentioned above, with a drop of 75% of keywords and 78% in visibility, its Live site has grown exponentially.

These two sites focus on completely different keyword clusters: PokerStars UK has shifted from acquisition clusters in the first half of the year to high-value core terms, having dropped many long-tailed keywords. PokerStars Live, on the other hand, focuses more on the ‘tournament’ and ‘live game’ keyword clusters, which currently put it in the same niche as the land-based competitors mentioned above.

This attempt to shift and stream traffic and visibility is an intriguing tactic by PokerStars when viewed in the context of intense core market concentration. By redirecting these niche clusters instead of dropping them entirely, PokerStars manages to stake claims in two strongly trending areas of the market.

With PokerStars Live currently the only online-based competitor ranking consistently in the top 10 for tournament and live game searches, it remains to be seen whether other online operators will follow a similar approach and wrest back the top ranks for these keywords from their land-based counterparts.

Overall, here are three key takeaways from what we have seen in the online poker market:

  • A decrease in overall visibility has led to strong market concentration, with leading competitors dropping newer or longer-tailed ranking keywords in favour of commercially valuable core terms. Partypoker has done this the best, having maintained the most visibility despite dropping over half of its former keyword footprint.
  • Land-based competitors are rapidly gaining visibility, partially due to increased venue-based searches, but also due to their growing presence in the high rankings of live and tournament-based keyword clusters.
  • PokerStars appears to be taking a two-horse approach, redirecting its live and tournament clusters rather than dropping them altogether. As PokerStars UK suffered losses in visibility and rankings, it will be interesting to see whether the operator is able to recoup these through PokerStars live and whether other competitors follow suit.
