Scientific Games has appointed a new senior vice-president (SVP) of product engineering in former Facebook exec Rich Wasserman.

Wasserman has led engineering, data science and product teams for over 20 years at firms including Amazon and Facebook.

The supplier said the new SVP would oversee product engineering across its portfolio.

Wasserman will also be tasked with advancing Scientific Games’s analytics and engagement capabilities.

Most recently, he was vice-president of engineering and data science at clothing brand Stitch Fix from June 2022 until March 2024.

Prior to that role, he served as a senior director of engineering at truck software developer Convoy for three years from October 2019.

Wasserman had two stints at Amazon – one from 2004 to 2011 and the other from May 2016 to June 2018 when he was tech director of sponsored products.

From 2012 to 2016 he held senior roles at IMDb.com, and from July 2018 to October 2019 Wasserman had a spell at Facebook in product.

Wasserman founded advisory vehicle Omnivorous Labs in October last year. He remains based in Seattle, Washington.

Pat McHugh, Scientific Games CEO, said: “We’re excited to add Rich’s deep technical expertise scaling innovative, AI-driven platforms at world-class organisations to further strengthen Scientific Games’ technology leadership.

“As we continue investing in innovation and analytics across retail and digital lottery solutions, his experience and leadership will help us deliver the next generation of high-performance products that drive sustainable growth for our lottery customers worldwide.”

Earlier this month, Scientific Games appointed a new senior vice-president of data, analytics and AI, Ovie Doro.
