### Investigation Uncovers Illegal Casinos on Roblox Targeting Children

An investigation conducted by Sky News unveiled that unauthorized casino operators are enticing children on Roblox into engaging in online gambling activities.

These unauthorized platforms permit users of any age to register with their Roblox accounts and wager Robux, Roblox’s virtual currency, on gambling activities like blackjack and slots.

According to the report, players can convert their winnings into cryptocurrency, which can subsequently be exchanged for real-world money.

Roblox, a platform with an estimated 80 million daily users, comprises a substantial portion—42%—of users aged 12 or younger.

During the investigation, three casinos—BloxFlip, Bloxmoon, and RBLXWild—were analyzed. The findings revealed that these sites draw approximately 2.8 million monthly visits and handle significant amounts in wagers.

Robux, intended for in-game purchases such as apparel, can be acquired with actual money at a conversion rate of £1 for 100 Robux.

Allegedly, logging into these casino sites with Roblox credentials grants the casinos access to the user’s Roblox account.

Some platforms asked users to confirm if they were over 18, yet none implemented any actual age verification procedures.

Once registered, casinos transfer a user’s Robux to an associated Roblox account controlled by the casino, offering the user equivalent virtual gambling chips on the casino site.

These chips enable participation in casino games like roulette and blackjack and can be exchanged back to Robux or withdrawn in cryptocurrency form.

Roblox’s spokesperson informed Sky News that the company does not authorize or endorse these casinos, and their activities violate Roblox’s terms of service. The spokesperson emphasized Roblox’s measures to disrupt such activities.

“Our dedicated team focuses on identifying potentially fraudulent activities on Roblox, and we collaborate with law enforcement when feasible to target the owners of these sites,” the spokesperson noted. “We’ve achieved some success, but further law enforcement actions and monitoring by web hosting providers to dismantle these websites would be beneficial.”

Sky News accessed data from Bloxmoon, revealing that since its launch in late 2022, users have collectively lost $11.4 million (£8.9 million)—including bets on RBLXWild, acquired by Bloxmoon in July 2024.

In six months this year, bets totaled $22.3 million; $20.1 million was paid out in winnings, with the remaining $2.2 million retained as revenue.

Among eight casinos evaluated, BloxFlip was the most frequented, drawing 2.7 million monthly visitors. However, BloxFlip announced its permanent closure less than 48 hours after the findings were released.

Subsequently, Bloxmoon went offline on November 26, following a notification to the Gambling Commission, which issued a takedown request to the hosting provider.

Gambling Commission CEO Andrew Rhodes expressed commitment to identifying those responsible for these illicit operations.

“In the end, illegal casino operators are criminals,” he stated. “They’re assisted by crime syndicates and are entrenched in the criminal network. It’s imperative for everyone to contribute to thwarting their activities.”

Rhodes also urged parents to monitor their children’s activities on Roblox, emphasizing the importance of safeguarding measures on game servers.

“Criminals are always devising new methods to exploit children and others, and it’s crucial to remain alert to those risks,” he added.
