A citizen from Maryland, Aaron John Sasser, is facing charges after sending death threats in PrizePicks’ customer service chat over $50 he claimed was frozen in his account.
According to an affidavit, Sasser threatened to kill the CEO of PrizePicks, Mike Ybarra, the founder and executive chairman, Adam Wexler, and the co-founder and CTO, Jay Deuksar.
Sasser wrote in messages:
“I’m driving down to Atlanta to blow up the PrizePicks headquarters, and then I’ll head to your house, tie you up, and rape your wife in front of you. I’m currently on the way to Atlanta to kill every PrizePicks team member. I’ve got Mike Ybarra engraved on one of the bullet casings.”
The messages were sent during a chat session on April 3, 2026, and as reported by FBI agent Joshua Floyd, the interaction lasted for over 24 minutes. Initially, the messages were received by a chatbot, after which a supervisor joined and warned Sasser that his account would be banned and the messages would be reported to law enforcement.
As a result, the operator sent Sasser’s email, driver’s license, and photo to the FBI’s Atlanta office.
Sasser later waived a preliminary hearing, and on April 10, 2026, he was released into his father’s custody and placed under strict home confinement.
He was also banned by the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia from contacting PrizePicks’ executives.
Sasser has also been ordered not to use social media or access any website that provides real-time customer support, and he additionally can’t participate in gambling or enter any gambling venue.
