Portugal’s regulated online gambling operators reported a combined GGR of €337.6m (£291.7m) in Q4 2025, marking a 4.5% year-on-year (YoY) jump in the Iberian nation.
The data, published by the regulator SRIJ, also showed Q4 performance was up 13.6% versus Q3 2025.
Sports betting GGR slipped 14.7% YoY to €123.6m, although the performance in the final three months of 2025 was up 23.9% compared to Q3.
Sports betting stakes jumped 7% YoY to €571.1m.
Football remains the most popular betting sport in the market, accounting for 75.6% of all bets placed. Tennis (10.6%) and basketball (9.6%) took the other podium positions.
The Portuguese Primeria Liga accounted for 11.4% of all football bets, followed by the English Premier League and the UEFA Champions League.
Online casino GGR shot up 15.9% YoY to €214m on the back of €5.9bn in stakes during Q4.
Online slots remained the most popular game type as the vertical snared 80.4% of all bets during the reporting period.
Banca Francesa (5.9%), roulette (4.9%) and blackjack (4.5%) were the next most popular games.
SRIJ added there were 4.9 million players registered in Portugal as of the end of 2025, up from 4.7 million at the close of 2024.
As of 31 December 2025, there were 361,400 self-excluded players in Portugal, up from 292,400 by the end of 2024.
During Q4, SRIJ issued 58 closure notifications to illegal operators and ordered internet service providers to shutter 116 offending sites.
