After more than 6 months in a waitlist period, Polymarket launched an official iOS app for U.S. users on May 12, 2026.
Polymarket first launched in the United States in 2020 but was banned in 2022 for offering unregistered derivatives and received a $1.4 million penalty. The prediction market later obtained CFTC-licensed exchange QCEX in July 2025 to start its legal relaunch process.
Currently, Polymarket has the status of a futures commission merchant, which allows it to offer its product to U.S. users. This means that players can now use Apple devices to directly access the market through the app, while previously it was only possible through an invitation signup screen.
Polymarket’s website states:
“Polymarket’s U.S. app is now being rolled out to those on the waitlist. Provide your phone number below to secure your spot & be notified when it’s your turn.”
The platform was looking to launch back in September 2025, with Polymarket CEO Shayne Coplan having shared that they had the green light to go live then. However, a report from The Information revealed that the delay might have been because of QCEX instability and the fact that Polymarket’s U.S. CEO, Justin Hertzberg, led the company “in name only”.
The report noted:
“Polymarket was struggling with turnover, banking issues, and questions about leadership.”
On the other hand, Polymarket doesn’t have an Android app yet, with no clear announcements about the timeline of the app becoming available.
