Playtech’s chief sustainable gambling officer, Francesco Rodano, has announced his departure from the company.
Rodano leaves the FTSE 250 supplier after more than 10 years of service, having first joined as chief policy officer in May 2016.
He went on to assume the chief sustainable gambling officer role in January 2025.
In addition to advising regulators and governmental bodies on evidence-based approaches to player protection, Rodano was tasked with leading Playtech’s sustainable gambling efforts.
He also took ownership of Playtech’s AI-driven behavioural analytics platform, BetBuddy, which scans real-time gameplay data to identify at-risk activity.
Prior to joining Playtech, Rodano spent nearly nine years with Italy’s gaming regulator Agenzia Dogane e Monopoli (ADM), serving as head of remote gaming from June 2007 to April 2016.
Before entering the gambling industry, he held several marketing roles between 1998 and 2007.
Posting on LinkedIn about his departure, Rodano wrote: “It is an emotional moment for me. After more than 10 years at Playtech, the time has come to move on.
“I am incredibly grateful to all the amazing people, within the company and across the wider industry, with whom I had the privilege to work and to become friends with. Together we went through successes, speed bumps and failures, which made us even stronger.
“We managed to make player protection a genuine and passionate commitment, at a time when it is too often treated as just an obligation. My heartfelt thanks go to all of you. And now, looking forward to the next chapter.”
In a financial trading update published last month, Playtech bosses said the supplier was performing “significantly ahead of market expectations” going into the second half of the year.
The supplier’s ongoing legal battle with Evolution continues in the background, with Playtech alleged to be behind short seller reports published by private intelligence firm Black Cube.
