The second golf major of the year is here, as the 2026 PGA Championship tees off Thursday at Aronimink Golf Club outside of Philadelphia.
Scottie Scheffler is the defending champion after winning at Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte last year.
If you’re new to betting on golf, we’ll show you how to wager on futures odds, props, matchups, and much more for this year’s PGA Championship.
How to Bet on Different Golf Markets
Outright Winner
Futures odds on the outright winner are available up until the tournament tees off. This one is simple: You’re betting on the player who will win the tournament.
There are odds on every player in the starting field. That’s a massive range of odds this week, with 156 players in the PGA Championship field.
Here’s how the payouts work. A longshot won last week’s Truist Championship at odds of +8000. If you bet $10 on Kris Reitan prior to the tournament, you would have won $800.
Winner Without
This market removes a player of players, and allows you to bet on the outright winner. For example, Scheffler is the betting favorite in any tournament he enters. He’s a +340 favorite to win the PGA Championship at DraftKings (as of publication).
In the “Winner Without Scottie Scheffler” market, the World’s No. 1 player is excluded. So, for example, you could bet Rory McIlroy to win at +740 odds in this market. Those odds are reduced from +860 in the “Outright Winner” market excluding Scheffler.
First-Round Leader
Betting on who’ll lead the tournament after the first round is another popular option. Here is what those PGA Championship odds look like for the top-five favorites at DraftKings:
- Scottie Scheffler +1350
- Rory McIlroy +1950
- Jon Rahm +2500
- Cameron Young +2700
- Bryson DeChambeau +2700
There are also odds on players to finish in the top five or top 10 after the first round.
Top Finish
You can also bet on players to have top-five, top-10, and top-20 finishes at the end of the tournament. Some books will expand their offerings to include top-30 and top-40 finishes. With these bets, make sure the finishes include ties to receive full payouts (see below).

You don’t want your winnings reduced if five players finish tied for 10th. I’ve been there, and it’s no fun.
Head-to-Head Matchups
You can bet on a head-to-head matchup between two players during an individual round or for the entire tournament. Here’s an example from last week’s Truist Championship:
Ludvig Aberg (-125) vs. Si Woo Kim (+100)
This was for the entire tournament. Aberg finished T-8 to win this matchup bet over Kim, who finished T-65. At -125 odds, a $125 bet on the favored Aberg would have returned $100 in profit and your original stake back.
Group Betting
Sportsbooks also offer player groups in tiers, allowing you to bet on which player will win among them. Here are Group A odds for the PGA Championship at FanDuel:
- Scottie Scheffler +145
- Rory McIlroy +270
- Jon Rahm +470
- Xander Schauffele +550
- Ludvig Åberg +650
FanDuel offers odds on Groups A through H, allowing you to bet on a wide range of players.
There is also something called 3-Ball bets. Players typically compete in threesomes during the first and second rounds of tournaments. Odds will be offered on all three players, and your bet wins if your chosen player shoots the lowest score of the three competitors during that round.
Nationality Bets
For big events like the PGA Championship, sportsbooks offer odds on players from individual countries or regions worldwide. Here’s a look at the betting favorites for “Top European” at FanDuel:
- Rory McIlroy +340
- Jon Rahm +600
- Matt Fitzpatrick +750
- Tommy Fleetwood +850
- Ludvig Åberg +850
- Tyrrell Hatton +1600
To win this bet, your chosen player must finish higher than all of the other European players with odds in this market. Look for value down the oddsboard, too.
Reitan, the winner of last week’s Truist Championship, has been playing as well as anyone lately. He’s offered at +2700 in this market for the PGA Championship. A $10 bet would pay out $270 in profit (and your stake back) if Reitan finishes higher than all other European players.
Tournament Props
One of the most popular tournament props is “Will there be a hole-in-one?” Odds are offered for individual rounds or the entire tournament. For example, FanDuel offered -230 odds on a hole-in-one occurring during the 2026 Masters.
Shane Lowry struck for one on the sixth hole during the third round, returning $100 on a $230 bet for the tournament. If you bet on a hole-in-one occurring in round three, the “Yes” odds varied between -125 and -165.
Player Props
There are several markets in this category, including made/missed cut. You’re simply betting on a player to make or miss the cut here. The top-70 players (and ties) make the cut after the second round.
Other examples of player props include betting OVER/UNDER on a player’s score for individual rounds or the entire tournament. You can also wager OVER/UNDER on the number of pars and “birdies or better” a player will have during a select round.
Double & Triple Chance
Double and triple chance golf bets allow you to bet on two or three players together to win. If any of the players you selected in your combination(s) wins, your bet wins.
