PENN Entertainment has officially announced Monday, August 11, as the grand opening date for its brand-new Hollywood Casino Joliet, a modern and land-based venue in Illinois.
If no regulatory issues arise, PENN’s new casino will be opening almost six months sooner than they first expected. This new Hollywood Casino will be more than just a casino. It will be a mixed-use development at the busy intersection of I-80 and I-55, where more than 230,000 vehicles pass daily.
The venue will feature around 1,000 slot machines, 43 live table games, a 10,000-square-foot event space, an ESPN BET sportsbook, and a wide space for parking. It’ll also bring about 600 jobs to the area, adding 200 new roles to PENN’s local workforce.

“The countdown to the opening of our newest casino begins today. The move from our existing riverboat significantly improves our offerings in the highly attractive Chicagoland market, and both our existing customers and new guests will be able to enjoy premier gaming, dining, and entertainment at this exceptionally accessible new location.”
But it’s not just about gaming. There’s serious culinary buzz, too. Celebrity chef Giada De Laurentiis is opening Sorellina by Giada, her signature blend of Italian and California flavors.

“We’re bringing in some of the best names in food to match the energy of this incredible new space.”
In cooperation with the Illinois Gaming Board, PENN will transition operations from the current riverboat casino to this new destination.
