The Minister of National Security, Patricia Bullrich, warned on Wednesday (15 October) about the impact of youth gambling addiction during a press conference, where she presented the results of an operation that dismantled a gang dedicated to illegal gambling.
“Youth gambling addiction is a huge problem. When children are affected, the consequences are serious, and those who mess with them will pay double,” emphasized Bullrich before the media.
According to official sources, the operation resulted in more than 20 arrests and 49 searches carried out in various locations across the country. The operations seized cell phones, computers, hardware, high-end vehicles, cash—both pesos and dollars—along with 12 kilos of drugs and firearms.
Bullrich explained that the criminal organization used commercial companies to hide income and create shell companies, with front men and asset movements incompatible with their tax declarations. She also noted that “many young people and children could access the platforms without any control, leading to a dangerous and difficult-to-detect addiction.”
“This operation demonstrates the government’s firmness in the face of organized crime and the decision to protect the most vulnerable sectors. Youth gambling addiction requires a strong intervention from the state,” stressed the minister.
