Octoplay has announced its current director of business development Ralitsa Georgieva will become the supplier’s CEO in March as part of a leadership shift.

Georgieva will replace current boss Carl Ejlertsson in the post, having joined Octoplay in February 2023 following stints at Yolo Group and Evolution.

Ejlertsson, a former Evolution and Betsson exec, had led the firm as CEO since October 2022.

He said he will remain with the company to “focus on the creative and strategic side of the business”.

Alongside the CEO change, Octoplay has revamped its C-suite, with a new CFO, chief product officer and chief legal officer named.

Nicola Vella will step up from finance director to lead the division, while Connor Leavey, who had been serving as an adviser since September, will take on the product brief.

Former Bragg head Martina Borg Stevens has been promoted from legal and compliance director to chief legal officer.

Finally, former Light & Wonder exec Jack Bailey has joined the team as a commercial director.

Octoplay counts a series of major operators as partners, including a host of brands within Flutter, such as Paddy Power, Sky Vegas and PokerStars.

Entain brands Coral, Ladbrokes and bwin offer Octoplay content, while Betsson, ComeOn Group, Superbet, LeoVegas and William Hill are also partners.

The firm is currently looking to push further into the US, having amassed 15 licences across the globe to date.

The brand made its debut in the US last summer with BetMGM in New Jersey, before linking up with Hard Rock Bet in September.

Ejlertsson said: “After three years as CEO, I’ve decided to step out of the role to focus on the creative and strategic side of the business.

“Octoplay has reached a stage where execution, commercial scale and operational leadership are paramount, and the company now requires a CEO whose focus is fully aligned with that mission.

“Starting in March, Ralitsa Georgieva will take over as CEO. Rali has been a huge part of the journey that brought us here.

“Her integrity, commercial instinct and leadership have shaped Octoplay in ways that go far beyond any title. Since joining, she’s been the driving force behind our commercial expansion, from our first European partnerships to our US market entry.

“There’s no one better suited to lead Octoplay into its next chapter, and I have complete confidence in her as CEO.”

On the promotions and other hires, the departing CEO added: “These are people who’ve been instrumental in building Octoplay from day one, and people we’ve brought in because they share our ambition.

“The structure we’re putting in place isn’t about change for its own sake. It’s about making sure we have the right team in the right seats for what comes next.”
