Grand opening marks new chapter for entertainment in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania
Novomatic’s Spielbanken MV subsidiary has now officially opened the Rostock Casino on October 16 after extensive renovation and modernization work.
The ceremonial opening invited guests, press representatives and friends of upscale entertainment to an evening full of highlights and a significantly expanded range of games.
After the press, representatives from politics and invited guests as well as the board of directors of NOVOMATIC AG, the parent company of the MV casinos, were able to get an idea of the new location in advance, the doors opened for the guests at 4 p.m. With culinary delicacies accompanied by artists such as the Rostock band 4FUN, the pianist Maximilian Kraft, a magician, or a burlesque performance, the evening was a complete success.
“We wanted to create a relaxed atmosphere for our guests that offers both the opportunity to talk and to celebrate,” said Thomas Fritz, Managing Director of Spielbanken MV GmbH & Co KG. The highlight of the evening was the opening of the club BOLD. The spacious event and bar area with lounge atmosphere offers space for live entertainment, theme nights and show programs. Poker tournaments with up to ten tables are also planned. The Rostock Casino is the only location in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania to offer both classic games and slot machines at the highest level.
The location at Petridamm is considered a milestone for the gambling offer in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. The offer includes four roulette tables, as well as two blackjack and two poker tables, supplemented by a slot machine hall with around 130 slot machines of the latest generation. On 1,350 square meters of play area, visitors can expect a significantly larger and more modern offer in the future than at the previous location at the Kabutzenhof, which covered around 400 square meters.
The new casino also sets standards in terms of sustainability. In addition to meeting the latest thermal insulation requirements, the waste heat from the slot machines is used for heating, and a photovoltaic system on the roof contributes to the energy supply.
In the area of player protection and anti-money laundering, Spielbank Rostock relies on the new casino management system NOVOVISION, which, as an integrated access system, conveniently ensures comparison with the nationwide blocking database OASIS as well as the documentation of money laundering-related processes.
The investment in the new building amounts to around 8.9 million euros. The move is also associated with a significant increase in personnel: instead of the previous 35 to 40 employees, up to 90 employees will soon be working there at the site. The Rostock Casino is thus not only the largest casino in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, but also an important tourist and economic factor for the region. 200 to 300 visitors are expected every day, and significantly more at special events and on weekends. Around 50 parking spaces are available directly at the site to ensure a pleasant journey.
