Novibet has named industry newcomer Yiannis Stavroulas as its new chief technology officer (CTO), with the company planning to ramp up “AI-driven innovation”.
Stavroulas joins the online operator from IT service provider Cognity, where he most recently served as COO. He also founded the business.
The new tech chief will replace Sotiris Haritos in the role after he departed Novibet in November.
The former CTO moved to Fortuna Entertainment Group to take up the same role after almost five years with the company.
Stavroulas’ arrival comes as part of a continued refresh of the Novibet C-suite.
Earlier this month, the operator promoted Elena Barba to chief marketing officer, while last year, Vasili Rappos was named as chief product and experience officer.
Novibet has a proprietary sports betting technology platform that is managed by around 200 engineers in Athens and Crete.

The firm is live in markets such as Greece, Ireland, Brazil and Mexico and counts more than 1,200 staff on its books.
Novibet had been in line to be acquired by Athens-listed Allwyn in a €327m deal.
The transaction was announced in December 2024, but in March 2026, it was revealed the Greek competition authority had vetoed the move. Link
Allwyn was due to acquire 51% of Novibet for €217m, with €110m in earnouts added on to the deal.
The lottery giant had viewed the deal as a means to acquire in-house tech. Bosses have said they remain on the hunt for acquisition targets to achieve those ambitions.
On his appointment, Stavroulas said: “Joining Novibet is a big step out of my comfort zone. I take it strengthened by experience, and am genuinely excited by the opportunity to learn and grow along with the company.
“Here, technology is not a supporting function but an essential part of the core business. With a strong, proven team, it’s the engine propelling the company forward.
“Now, our challenge is to rev it up: go even faster, further and better.”
A Novibet statement read: “We’re confident Yiannis will play a key role in empowering our teams and advancing our global technology strategy.
“With over 25 years of experience, Yiannis brings a strong track record in leading engineering teams and delivering high-impact technology solutions.
“His appointment comes at a key moment as we continue to invest in our proprietary platform and accelerate AI-driven innovation.”
