The National Lottery Community Fund (NLCF) has reappointed both John Mothersole and Kate Still as chair of the England Committee and Scotland Committee, respectively.

Mothersole and Still officially began their second term from 14 May 2024, with the positions paying £24,000 per annum.

Most recently serving as CEO of Sheffield City Council, a position he held for 11 years, Mothersole was also an assessor for the Grenfell Tower public inquiry.

In addition, Mothersole acts as chair of The Sheffield College and holds advisory roles for regeneration and environmental companies.

Still first joined the NLCF in June 2020 and alongside her title of Scotland Committee chair has been tasked by the local government with conducting the independent review of community learning and development across Scotland.

She was previously a member of the Employment Related Services Association (ERSA) board from August 2009 to March 2014.

Still was also Scotland director for The Prince’s Trust from July 2018 to December 2021 and spent six years at Rathbone Training UK as Scotland director for Devolved Nations.

Neither Mothersole nor Still has declared any significant political activity, which includes holding office or making a recordable donation.

At the start of the year, the Department for Culture, Media and Sport had started the process of hiring a permanent NLCF chair to replace Blondel Cluff.

Cluff stepped down from the role in July 2023 after two years, with Paul Sweeney stepping in on an interim basis.

Sweeney was set to remain as interim chair until August of this year but still holds the position alongside his role as chair of the NLCF’s Northern Ireland funding committee.
