More than half of all Premier League clubs will have a front-of-shirt gambling sponsor in the final season that type of partnership will be allowed before the voluntary ban comes into play.

Ahead of the 2025-26 season getting underway today, 15 August, 11 of the 20 Premier League sides go into the campaign with a gambling firm as their principal partner.

From the 2026-27 season, gambling companies will no longer be allowed to appear on the front of teams’ shirts.

However, they will still be able to seal commercial relationships with the clubs, including sponsorship deals for sleeves and LED perimeter advertising.

In April 2023, Premier League clubs agreed to end front-of-shirt sponsors on a voluntary basis.

Then, in September 2024, the Premier League also adopted a new code of conduct for gambling-related sponsorships.

The code includes a commitment to being socially responsible and protecting children from gambling-related harms.

Aston Villa (Betano), Bournemouth (BJ88), Brentford (Hollywoodbets), Burnley (96.com), Crystal Palace (Net88), Everton (Stake) and Fulham (SBOTOP) all have deals in place for the upcoming season.

Those clubs are joined by Nottingham Forest (Bally’s), Sunderland (W88), West Ham (BoyleSports) and Wolves (Debet).

Of those 11 clubs, Forest, Sunderland and West Ham all agreed their partnerships with their respective gambling sponsors this summer.

Forest previously sported Asia-facing brand Kaiyun Sports as its front-of-shirt sponsor before partnering with Rhode Island-based Bally’s.

West Ham ended its 10-year partnership with Betway and joined forces with Irish bookmaker BoyleSports as part of the company’s £100m investment plan in the UK.

Sunderland, who are back in Premier League for the first time since 2017, had Spreadex as its front-of-shirt sponsor in the Championship but will now feature W88.

Aston Villa, Bournemouth, Burnley, Crystal Palace, Fulham and Wolves all inked their respective front-of-shirt deals in the summer of 2023.

Stake has been Everton’s front-of-shirt partner since June 2022.

Several of those firms, including Stake, where allowed to advertise in the UK via a white-label deal with TGP Europe, which has since rescinded its licence.

In terms of sleeve sponsors, just three sides have gambling deals in place: Crystal Palace and Kaiyun Sports, Leeds and Parimatch and Sunderland and LiveScore Group.

The remaining nine clubs without front-of-shirt deals in place do have several smaller commercial partnerships with gambling firms.

Betway is a partner of Arsenal, Brighton, Chelsea and Manchester City, as well as Forest and Bournemouth.

Liverpool has three gambling partners across various geographies in the shape of Ladbrokes, Interwetten and Sportium.

BetMGM is Spurs’ training kit partner and the official betting partner of Newcastle, while Betfred has a deal in place with Manchester United.
