The Merkur Group is the new exclusive partner of the professional team of the third-division football club Alemannia Aachen.
The cooperation with the Black and Yellows begins with the start of the 2025/2026 season and is initially designed to run for two years. With its Merkur Spielbank Aachen, the company operates Germany’s only casino in a football stadium – in the middle of the Tivoli, the home ground of Alemannia Aachen. The partnership is visible through a strong brand presence – via LED boards, cam carpets and the association’s social media channels.
“Alemannia and us – what belongs together comes together. After we took over the casinos in North Rhine-Westphalia, we successively decided to promote sports at all five casino locations. It is therefore only logical for us to expand our presence in Aachen to include a commitment to Alemannia. We are very much looking forward to working together and walking together in this special football city,” says Björn Hohlt, Managing Director of Merkur Spielbanken, about the new partnership.

Alemannia Aachen is one of the most traditional football clubs in Germany. Last year, the first team celebrated the championship in the Regionalliga West and has been playing in the 3rd league ever since. The fans of the Black and Yellows caused a particular stir in the 2023/2024 season, when over 31,000 spectators streamed into the stadium for the home game against 1.
