LiveScore Group has commenced begun a four-day work week trial for its employees based in London, becoming one of the only major igaming firms to embark on such a strategy.

The new working model will see most London-based staff work in the office from Monday to Thursday, with a select number of Fridays remaining as working days for important sporting events or key moments for the business.

LiveScore Group operates the LiveScore Bet and Virgin Bet as part of its B2C division, while also running live score and media brand LiveScore.

According to the privately owned company, the Friday exceptions will “ensure that LiveScore Group continues to deliver the high-performance standards and real-time coverage its users expect while giving employees the benefit of a regular three-day weekend, most weeks”.

The trial, which officially started on 19 May, will last for 12 months.

A formal review into the trial’s impact is scheduled for October, led by business stakeholders and informed by feedback from LiveScore Group employees.

The company has said the move is designed to “reflect the evolving nature of work, offering a better balance between professional and personal life, while continuing to nurture the energy, creativity and collaboration that come from working together in person”.

The company also has a UK office in Stoke-On-Trent, as well as overseas headquarters in Ireland, Austria, Gibraltar, Malta and Nigeria.

LiveScore Group CEO Sam Sadi said: “LiveScore Group was built on innovation. Not just in how we serve sports fans, but in how we grow and evolve as a business.

“As pioneers in convergence, we understand the power of creating ecosystems that work better together and that includes how we work as a team.

“This four-day work week trial is a natural step in our journey, building a future-fit business that can continue to lead, adapt and perform at the highest level. We’re proud to be taking this step forward as we continue to grow and lead from the front.”

LiveScore Group chief people officer Matthew Garratt added: “We know that building world-class products starts with creating a world-class environment for our people.

“This trial reflects our belief that performance and wellbeing are not at odds, instead, they power each other. By supporting balance and in-person collaboration, we’re building a stronger, more connected team ready to drive the next chapter of our growth.”

As per the company’s latest filings with Companies House, LiveScore Group had an average of 641 staff as of 31 March 2024, up from 492 in March 2023.

This year, LiveScore Bet has launched in Bulgaria, going live back in February. The business had shuttered in the Netherlands in late 2024 due to the tax hike implemented by the Dutch government.
