Light & Wonder chief legal officer (CLO) James Sottile will depart the supplier at the end of the year and be replaced by current deputy general counsel Susan Dawson.
The business confirmed the transition in an SEC filing late on Friday, 20 June.
Sottile will step down as executive vice-president and CLO on 31 December, with Dawson taking over with immediate effect.
Dawson will relocate from the UK to Las Vegas to take on the role, with Sottile having agreed to provide consulting services for a further 12 months post-retirement to support a “smooth transition”.
Sottile will be paid a monthly consulting fee of $11,959, which Light & Wonder said was the equivalent of 20% of his base salary for 2025.
The outgoing CLO will also be eligible to receive his annual bonus for 2025 should he remain in his post until the end of the year.
Sottile has served as Light & Wonder CLO since September 2018 when the company was then known as Scientific Games.
Prior to moving into the gambling industry, he served as a partner at law firms Jones Day, Zuckerman Spaeder, Baach Robinson and Lewis and Caplin and Drysdale.
Dawson joined the supplier in 2012 as a legal director for Europe and assistant general counsel, having served as a legal director at DLA Piper prior to the move.
Then, in January 2018, she was named senior vice-president and deputy general counsel.
The changes in the legal department mark the latest personnel shifts for Light & Wonder this year.
The business named a new igaming CEO in January in the shape of Simon Johnson after Dylan Slaney stepped down from the post.
Nathan Drane was promoted to chief product officer and executive vice-president in February.
