LeoVegas Group has promoted its head of gaming performance, Sam Leggott, to the role of director of gaming operations.

It is understood that Leggott’s promotion is part of a wider reorganisation in which various roles are being redefined, a move designed to enable the company to recruit senior people to work with the new head of gaming operations.

Leggott’s promotion is a further reflection of the growing importance of the UK business to the MGM Resorts-owned operator, following the announcement of a new Leeds office earlier this year to complement its existing Newcastle headquarters.

LeoVegas has heavily promoted the BetMGM brand in the UK since launching it in 2023 and continues to run the LeoVegas brand and some smaller brands, acquired through the RocketX acquisition in 2018.

This year has been one of change for LeoVegas Group. Senior figures including chief commercial officer Chris Welch and UK director Sam Behar left after a company restructuring, soon followed by founder and CEO Gustaf Hagman in June.

Chief product and technology officer Mattias Wedar took over from Hagman six years after joining the operator.

Leggott, who joined LeoVegas in 2020 via its RocketX subsidiary in Newcastle, has enjoyed a long career in igaming.

His career started at William Hill before progressing through roles at Betclic Everest Group, Kindred Group, BGO Group and Playzido.
