LeoVegas Group director of UK and sponsorship Sam Behar has left the MGM Resorts International-owned operator following a company restructuring.
The exec confirmed his exit yesterday, 22 April, with EGR understanding the departure comes as part of an operational review by the operator.
While the number of departures from the company has not been confirmed, the streamlining has impacted roles in both the UK and Sweden.
Behar joined LeoVegas Group in January 2023, based out of the firm’s Newcastle offices and ahead of the launch of the BetMGM brand that summer.
Behar was ultimately responsible for all of the group’s brands in the market, including LeoVegas, BetUK and Pink Casino.
During his time in the role, BetMGM embarked on an ambitious marketing push, including tapping Hollywood actor Chris Rock to front a glitzy opening campaign.
Since then, the brand, which is powered by a combination of LeoVegas Group tech and Kambi, partnered with Premier League sides Wolves, Newcastle and Spurs.
The operator also took the title sponsorship for Premier League Darts and also pledged support for UK horseracing.
The BetMGM international brand, which is also live in the Netherlands and Sweden, differs from that in North America where it is a JV run by MGM and Entain.
Behar said: “After more than two years with BetMGM/LeoVegas, I’ll be moving on as part of a wider business transformation.
“It’s been a privilege to be part of the company’s journey during a period of growth and change, and I’m proud of the progress made and the teams I’ve worked alongside.
“I’m grateful for the relationships built and experiences gained, and I’m now open to exploring what’s next.”
In December, former Spotlight Sports Group head Gethin Evans was named UK and Ireland managing director by LeoVegas Group.
The operator still has several live job listings for UK roles, including a UK sports director and various positions in BI and data.
