The Dutch gaming authority, Kansspelautoriteit (KSA), has identified several licensed companies engaging in unauthorized sports betting activities.
A recent investigation unveiled that seven operators were providing betting opportunities on under-21 matches and amateur competitions. These activities are against Dutch regulations due to the increased risk of match manipulation.
The KSA’s decision to restrict these events from betting options is based on the view that individuals under 21 are more susceptible to influence, thereby posing a significant threat to the integrity of sports.
Additionally, two operators offered bets on outcomes like yellow and red cards and corner kicks for global matches during the 2023/24 football season. Such bets are also prohibited by Dutch laws.
The KSA announced that all involved parties have been instructed to remove and permanently discontinue the illegal betting options. They also highlighted the expectation for operators to report any future activities that may breach betting regulations.
A follow-up inspection will be conducted to ensure that the unauthorized betting activities have been stopped. Should non-compliance be discovered, sanctions may be imposed.
