The AGEM Index increased by 78.77 points to 1,502.26 in August 2024, a 5.5 per cent increase from the prior month.
Compared to one year ago, the index rose 35.7 per cent, or 395.19 points. During the latest month, seven of the 12 AGEM Index companies reported stock price increases, which resulted in seven positive contributions and five negative contributions to the AGEM Index.
The largest positive contributor to the monthly index was Konami, whose 15.2 per cent increase in stock price led to a 53.47-point gain to the index. Meanwhile, Aristocrat Leisure Limited saw its stock price increase by 0.9 per cent, leading to a 29.16-point gain for the index. The largest negative contribution to the index was sourced to Crane NXT, whose 6.6 per cent decrease in stock price resulted in a 5.37-point loss to the AGEM Index.
In August, all three major US stock indices increased from the prior period. The NASDAQ rose by 3.3 per cent over the month, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose by 3.5 per cent. Meanwhile, the S&P 500 increased by 4.1 per cent from the prior month.
