Kambi has named former ID verification firm Veriff exec Michelle Unsworth as its new chief people officer (CPO).

Unsworth joins the Stockholm-listed sports betting supplier from Veriff, where she has served as vice-president of people since June 2024.

During her time with the Estonian business, Unsworth created its first company-wide people strategy.

Prior to Veriff, she spent more than four years with travel retail platform Travelport, initially as senior people director, before stepping up to become vice-president of people.

She also previously had spells with online travel company Expedia and Disney is a series of HR roles.

Unsworth will be responsible for Kambi’s “global people strategy, including talent acquisition, leadership development and employee experience”.

In January, Kambi announced the appointment of ex-SKS365 head Brian Dean as its new CPO.

Dean joined the company, having departed Italy-facing SKS365 after it was acquired by Lottomatica in September 2024.

Touching on her new role, Unsworth said: “I’m thrilled to be joining Kambi, which has firmly established itself as a world leader in B2B sports betting provision.

“The opportunity to work with such talented individuals and to build upon the company’s strong, people-focused culture is incredibly exciting. I look forward to helping empower this team to achieve even greater success.”

Werner Becher, Kambi CEO, added: “Welcoming Michelle as our chief people officer reinforces our commitment to making people and culture a true strategic priority for Kambi.

“Michelle’s leadership and expertise will be instrumental in fostering an environment where our teams can thrive, innovate and grow together.

“Michelle will play a central role in aligning our people strategy with our long-term business objectives, ensuring that our culture not only supports but accelerates our long-term growth ambitions.”

Back in July, Becher told EGR that a sole focus on seizing the opportunity in Brazil was “completely the wrong approach” for the business, as he insisted a diversified revenue stream was key.

Kambi is live in Brazil with Stake, KTO Group and Rei do Pitaco, although Becher said that “South America is more than Brazil” and that other markets remain on the agenda.
